SUA wins the derby against Casseneuil

the essential
SUA football defeated Casseneuil on their ground this Sunday in a very committed Regional 2 derby. It was Laroche who scored the only goal of the match, a few minutes after the return from the locker room.

SU 1 – Casseneuil 0

Derbies always have a very special flavour, no matter where in or Navarre you are. The one between SUA and Casseneuil-Pailloles was no exception with a virile but correct game, commitment, “box to box” play and a few chances here and there. All that was really missing was a few goals to literally set the pitch alight, in front of a very large crowd, supporting each other with fervour. With the presence of a good stand, we could have imagined being in a “cauldron”. Because the two opponents played well, trading blow for blow, action after action, sometimes in a field game that did not do honour to the regional level. We once again saw SUA complicating its task with bad choices, bad timing, numerous unforced errors and clear opportunities wasted in front of the opposing goalkeeper.

If Casseneuil had been solid until then without being exceptional, it was of course a marking error that opened the score for SUA: the corner went in front of the goal, Corentin Chaminade narrowly missed the ball with his head but not that of Jordan Larroche, the second thief present at the far post (49th, 1-0). While Mohamed El-Hassnaoui called on his players to be more simple in their play, it was nevertheless Frances (80th) and Boudier (88th) who failed in turn to put Sporting definitively out of reach. Relying on the excellent Clovis-Larroche-Chaminade defense and Bendaho’s very good match in goal, the door for SUA remained locked. Casseneuil would not score, the derby would be for Agen.

The reactions

Mohamed El-Hassnaoui, SUA coach: “We made a good start to the match during the first quarter of an hour but as time went on, my block became disorganized. We gave the opposition some desire. I asked my players to play higher up the pitch in the second half. The entry of Nazil Zaarouri gave us a lot of depth and we pushed the opponent back in front of their goal. We took these three points in this kind of match which could have been dangerous for confidence. We were strong, we won and we launched our championship.” Ryad El-Kouchni, SUA midfielder: “It was a very tight match with few chances, little play but a derby is always tense. We expected it.”

Mathieu Deroux, SUA midfielder: “It was a hard-fought derby with a lot of intensity and we didn’t manage to impose our game as we wanted. We will especially remember the three points we took.

Nazil Zaarouri, SUA defender: “The match took on the appearance of a cup match and we were unable to put our game together. In the end, we will remember the victory and our defensive solidity.” Corentin Chaminade, SUA defender: “We were able to win without being good with a very good start to the match for a quarter of an hour. Then, we had a big drop in form by letting Casseneuil develop his game. We scored on a set piece and we were able to hold the score until the end.”

Nicolas Dumas, assistant coach Casseneuil: “There was room for us to go for a justified draw. We were surprised in a corner, on a marking error and we paid “cash”. This evening, we are frustrated but our performance has nothing to do with that of last week against Laugnac. We saw a great team and guys who wanted to fight for the jersey.” Fouad Belli, Casseneuil defender: “We got off to a good start in the match. Unfortunately, we conceded the only goal of the match from a set piece. It’s a real shame but very encouraging for the future.”
