QMJHL: Seven prospects to watch in 2024-25

The new season of the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League is upon us, and that means it’s time to take a look at the prospects to watch ahead of the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.

The Quebec junior circuit has just had two lean years, having not produced a single first-round pick since forward Nathan Gaucher and defenseman Maveric Lamoureux in 2022. That trend should stop this year.

“I don’t think there will be a big difference in terms of quantity, but at the top of the pyramid, the quality will be there,” analyzes the recruiter of the NHL Central Scouting Bureau, Jean-François Damphousse.

This vintage could also be marked by the selection of Quebec goalies, a now very rare phenomenon. Louis-Antoine Denault (Quebec), Lucas Beckman (Baie-Comeau) and Gabriel D’Aigle (Victoriaville) are part of the short list of goalies who find themselves in a good position.
