bronze medalist in para-rowing, she became sub-prefect in Nièvre

THE SPORTS SCAN – After shining at the Paralympics, Émilie Acquistapace is continuing her career in the civil service. The para-athlete has been appointed sub-prefect of Château-Chinon.

Barely time to catch your breath for Émilie Acquistapace. On September 1, the 36-year-old Frenchwoman won the bronze medal in para-rowing with the French mixed coxed four – which she guides without being disabled – on the Vaires-sur- basin, during the Paralympic Games. Two weeks later, her life changed almost completely. Her sports career as a coxswain was over, and she was now in the civil service, full-time. The Olympic medalist has just been appointed sub-prefect of Château-Chinon in the Nièvre. “I want to serve and act positively. I know the challenges of rurality, isolation, and stakeholders with divergent interests. I don’t know the Morvan, but it is with great pleasure that I will learn to know it.” she explains, in remarks reported by 3 regions.

For Nièvre, you have to know how to run a marathon. It is a territory of immense challenges. It is dynamic and its profile is very interesting, said Julien Guibert, RN MP for the second constituency of Nièvre.
