Woman shot in forehead by lead bullet while at home

A hunting accident that could have been dramatic. A 57-year-old woman was injured by a lead bullet this Sunday, September 8, late in the afternoon in La Chauvelière in the commune of Bessay, north of Luçon (Vendée), reported our colleagues at Ouest-France.

While she was on her land, “she was hit in the forehead by a lead bullet,” the gendarmerie told the local newspaper. Before adding: “She was only slightly injured.”

The author of the shot wanted

The Vendée woman was thus able to go to the emergency room in Luçon, around ten kilometres further south, by her own means.

The gendarmerie has opened an investigation to find the person who fired the shot, who “has not yet been apprehended.”

Given the victim’s injury, a hunting accident is the preferred option, even though the hunting season does not open until September 15. However, certain prefectural exemptions may be granted as part of a hunting plan for certain species. Wild boar can be hunted in a drive or by stalking “in agreement with the person responsible for the holder of the hunting rights,” the Departmental Federation of Vendée Hunters explained to Ouest-France.
