Marc Marquez wins second in a row, Bagnaia closes in on Martin

Already a winner in Aragon last week, the six-time world champion continued in San Marino to confirm his return to the forefront.

Marc Marquez is back. After rediscovering the precious taste of victory at home in Aragon, where last week he ended more than 1000 days of drought, the Spanish driver once again climbed to the top of the box this Sunday by winning the Grand Prix of San Marino.

An authoritative victory for the six-time world champion, who arrived with more than two seconds ahead of the Ducatis of Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini on the Misano track. This is his first double since 2021 and his United States – Emilia-Romagna sequence, where his last MotoGP victory dates back to.

Bagnaia swoops on Martin, Quartararo back in top 10

This 61st career victory allows the former Honda rider to move up in the general standings, 53 points behind the leader Jorge Martin, who had a complicated day in San Marino due to a poor strategic choice. After being the only one to opt for a change of plan to cope with the arrival of rain, the “Martinator” was ejected from the top 10, outside the points, to finish in 15th place. Second, Bagnaia takes back points from Martin, who now has only a 6-point lead with seven races to go.

On the French side, Fabio Quartararo found the joys of the top 10 again after a great race, finishing in 7th place. Further back, Johann Zarco continues to struggle at the wheel of his Honda, still outside the points, in 12th place.
