Hélios Latchoumanaya, the Teddy Riner of parajudo

Double world champion, parajudo player Hélios Latchoumanaya is the big favorite in the -90 kg category for visually impaired people (J2) at the Paris Paralympic Games. Bronze medalist in Tokyo, he intends to take his revenge. For this athlete who hates defeat, only gold counts.

After the ten medals won by the French judo team at the Paris Olympic Games, the parajudo team also intends to shine at the Paralympic Games. At 24, Hélios Latchoumanaya is one of the spearheads of the French selection. In the -90 kg category for the visually impaired (J2), he is expected to climb onto the highest step of the podium.

“I still have trouble believing that I’m the big favorite in the category,” he said during the media day organized by the judo federation last June. “That adds a bit of pressure.”
