PARALYMPIC GAMES – Two gold medals in 24 hours. This is the feat achieved by Mathieu Bosredon from Corrèze on Thursday, September 5. The 33-year-old Frenchman, already vice-world champion in the road race, became Olympic champion in this discipline in his category, H3, reserved for paraplegic athletes without voluntary mobility of the trunk. He gives France its 17th gold medal in these Games.

The cyclist had a phenomenal race. Starting in the lead and well ahead of his competitors, a puncture in his front wheel led to a breakdown – which lasted less than a minute – during the second lap of the course. Although he was overtaken by the chasing group at that point, he quickly caught up with them and widened the gap significantly by the end of the second lap and in the final lap.
The other member of the delegation in this race, Johan Quaile, took advantage of the opportunity to also break away from the group and fly towards second place, signing a fine French double, after that of Kevin le Cunff and Gatien le Rousseau on Wednesday in the time trial. The 32-year-old native of Montbéliard had already pocketed silver in the individual time trial.
