General manager Omar Berrada has maintained his confidence in Red Devils coach Erik Ten Hag despite the latter’s first two defeats.

Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada says manager Erik ten Hag has the club’s full support and is optimistic that the elements needed for the team’s long-term success at home and in Europe are in place.

United finished eighth in the Premier League last season and Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool made it two defeats in three games in the current campaign, leaving them 14th. “Erik has our full support. We believe he is the coach we need.”Berrada told reporters ahead of the Liverpool game, in comments published on Monday.

“We worked closely together during the transfer window and we will continue to work closely with him to achieve the best results for the team.”The last of United’s 20 English league titles came in 2012-13, Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge, and while winning the Premier League is the primary objective, Berrada said the long-term vision must be taken.

After a positive summer in the transfer market and with new faces in the boardroom, Berrada said there was a feeling things were going in the right direction at the club. “I feel it, and I can also speak for myself, I am very enthusiastic and very optimistic about what we have ahead of us.”he said. “I think we’re starting to put the right pieces in place and I’m absolutely confident we’re going to be successful.
