The three-stripe brand had last year stolen the sponsorship of the French rugby union jersey from Le Coq Sportif. The partnership begins in September 2024 and runs for at least the next four years.

The French XV and adidas are once again a pair. The German brand is the new official equipment supplier of the Blues for the next four years, as announced by the French Rugby Federation on Monday. President Florian Grill had already revealed in June 2023 the end of the collaboration with Le Coq sportif, sponsor since 2018.

The FFR and adidas had already been associated in the past, notably between 2012 and 2018, when the three-stripe brand took over from Nike. With this partnership, adidas aims to “support the development of all rugby for everyone” according to its press release.

Return from the pass

The new jerseys for the men’s and women’s teams have been unveiled. The color hasn’t changed much. The main new feature is the return of a collar. “Excellence and elegance were the key principles that guided the design of the new jersey for the French rugby teams, the press release states. A clean design and style that rests in a specially designed collar. The key element of this jersey is the return of the three stripes in blue, white and red, perfectly embodying the historic union between adidas and the French rugby teams.

The jersey will be unveiled on September 7 during a match of the French women’s rugby team. For his part, Florian Grill emphasizes that “The partnership between adidas and the FFR is emblematic of our project for French rugby. adidas supports high performance and our 14 French women’s and men’s teams with its capacity for innovation, but adidas supports clubs and amateur rugby just as much with nearly 900 women’s teams (minimettes, cadettes and seniors) who will benefit from grants. Through this partnership, adidas is supporting French rugby from the grassroots to the top!”
