Paris SG have had a “magnificent” start to the season with three wins in three matches and first place in the Ligue 1 standings, said coach Luis Enrique on Sunday after the victory in Lille (3-1).

“It was an away match with the difficulty that this entails, with an opponent qualified for the Champions League and who has played more matches” that PSG — precisely to qualify for the Champions League –, Luis Enrique declared at a press conference. On a physical level, “The difference was very clear, especially in the second half, but we scored three goals and I am very happy with the team’s response.” to the adversity of Lille, he added.

“Obviously there are things to improve but it was a good test”concluded Luis Enrique. The results of this start of the season, with 13 goals scored and two conceded, “it’s beautiful”replied the Spanish technician in French, although ideally “It could be 15 goals in our favor and 0 against us”.

Lille coach Bruno Genesio, for his part, “did not see a superiority of PSG but a balanced match”. “These are Champions League (level) matches, we have to avoid the slightest error, be efficient in front of goal and have video assistance up to par”he said. “The second Lille goal is valid, if we put in a VAR that doesn’t do its job, it’s useless. On the bus, what were the referees doing, were they watching something else, a film?”Bruno Genesio joked. Because “If the second goal is granted (to return to 2-2, Editor’s note), I would have liked to see the rest, because we felt Paris was on the verge of breaking down”stressed the French technician. “Despite the defeat, I take my hat off to my players for what they did” at the start of the season, said Bruno Genesio.
