The images were quite spectacular and, immediately, we thought that there could be red cards in the air. Clumsily, Daan Heymans’ elbow had struck Christian Ravich in the face, and the scars of the blow were immediately visible: the Cercle defender was bleeding profusely.
As he left, Ravych, furious, made large gestures towards Heymans, but also towards the fourth referee and the Sporting Charleroi staff. According to him, it was very clear: his opponent should have taken a red card, and not a yellow.
“I’m a decent player, I’ve never been booked for this kind of thing before,” explained Daan Heymans, visibly sorry, after the match. “We went to the duel, he touched me, I touched him. I had no intention of hurting him, I know Christiaan off the field.”
