The idea of a Wait ABOUT to Saudi investors continues to fuel fantasies. However, the former administrative director Julien Fournier sheds light on the real intentions of Frank McCourtowner of the club.
OM sale: Between fantasy and reality
For several years, the hypothesis of an OM financed by Saudi funds, like PSG with Qatar, has made many supporters dream. But for Julien Fournier, former administrative director of OM under Pape Diouf, this possibility of the OM Sale remains an illusion today.
During an interview with The Teamhe revealed that he had been approached by Saudi emissaries, curious to know Frank McCourt's position on a possible OM Sale. Despite these steps, the American billionaire's response was clear: he does not wish to sell the club.
“He is criticized, but he does not want to sell, which proves his attachment. Little by little, he goes back up the slope. We can't get rid of OM… But this club needs calm. The leaders are working well, even if things remain fragile”affirms Julien Fournier, emphasizing that OM needs stability and calm to progress.
McCourt is firm on his decision but committed to Marseille
Frank McCourt, owner of OM since 2016, seems determined to continue his project in Marseille. Julien Fournier confirmed that he had surveyed McCourt at the request of a potential buyer for the OM Sale, but the latter was categorical. “Politely, kindly but firmly, he let me know that he wanted to keep the club”explained Fournier.
-This position contrasts with persistent rumors surrounding a takeover by foreign investors. However, Fournier specifies that if one day McCourt became a salesman, he would be ready to support a new project, but this scenario is not on the agenda. “If one day McCourt is a salesman, if someone comes to see me because they’re interested, why not. But today, it’s more fantasy than anything else”he said.
Olympique de Marseille in search of serenity
If Frank McCourt seems calm and opposed to an OM Sale, it is an option which had nevertheless been studied. “I was planning a possible buyout”revealed the 50-year-old man. Julien Fournier insists that, despite the turbulence, current leaders are working in the right direction. The Marseille club, which remains fragile, needs continuity to rebuild itself sustainably.
While rumors of an OM Sale continue to ignite social networks, the reality is quite different: Frank McCourt remains firmly at the head of OM, determined to see his project through to the end. Supporters will therefore have to wait before dreaming of an OM with ambitions worthy of the European giants.
