Club Brugge has struck again on the Scandinavian market by signing Vince Osuji (18). The Nigerian defender, who came from the Swedish club Kalmar FF, is part of the well-known transfer policy of Blauw & Zwart.
The Club has already had success in the past by recruiting young talents, letting them mature quietly and selling them later for significant sums. Osuji, who played sixteen matches in the Swedish championship, was acquired for 3 million euros and immediately joined the first team.
Ghent, Genk and Anderlecht also showed interest in Osuji, but they had no chance as soon as Club Brugge showed up. Osuji’s entourage quickly decided that a transfer to Belgium would only be done via Bruges.
Bruges appreciates the Scandinavian market
The Club had also established contacts very early and persevered thanks to a good network and its reputation in supporting young talents.
-The Club’s detection process once again proved decisive. When Osuji won a starting place at Kalmar, the Club immediately moved to the next phase: contacts with his entourage, former teammates and even his former club, reports le Nieuwsblad.
With Osuji, the Club continues to follow a successful pattern. Think of names like Odilon Kossounou and Antonio Nusa, who were also recruited at a young age from Scandinavia. Both players subsequently brought in significant sums, which encourages the club to continue following this model.
