The Habs sign their fifth victory of the winter after a flawless shooting.
Frenchwoman Lou Jeanmonnot won the sprint (7.5 km) in Anterselva (Italy) on Thursday counting for the Biathlon World Cup and signs her fifth victory of the winter, grabbing important points in the race for the general classification.
Thanks to a flawless performance behind the rifle (10/10), Lou Jeanmonnot beat the German Selina Grotian, who also had a flawless performance on the shooting range. Her compatriot Franziska Preuss, overall leader, finished third.
In the general classification, Jeanmonnot is only 117 points behind Preuss (697 against 814) after 13 races out of 21. “I’m very happy, I hadn’t yet managed a sprint since the start of the season, with a perfect shoot, a little more committed than in the last two weeks”commented the Frenchwoman on the microphone of the L’Équipe channel.
The pursuit ahead
The 26-year-old biathlete has already won in Kontiolahti (Finland) in the short individual (12.5 km) for the opening of the season. She also won the pursuits (10 km) in Hochfilzen (Austria) and Oberhof (Germany) and the individual in Ruhpolding (Germany).
-With this fifth victory, Jeanmonnot already has one more victory than last season, when she finished second in the race for the big crystal globe, 23 points behind the Italian Lisa Vittozzi.
She will start on Saturday at the head of the pursuit (10 km). “Being hunted is rather stressful compared to being a hunter”she explained. The Italian Dorothea Wierer, who was skiing at home one year before the next Winter Games which will take place in the same venue, finished fourth at 28 seconds, with a shooting error.
