The Blue Jays agreed to minor league contracts with catcher Christian Bethancourt and reliever Richard Lovelady on Wednesday.
They will both be invited to the MLB team’s spring camp.
Bethancourt, who is 33, split last season with the Miami Marlins and Chicago Cubs. He had a .209 batting average with 22 RBIs and 5 home runs in 62 games.
In 428 career games with the Marlins, Cubs, Braves, A’s and Rays, he maintained a .229 average with 35 home runs, 135 RBIs and 60 doubles, in addition to preventing 58 stolen bases.
-Lovelady, a 29-year-old left-hander, had a combined 35 appearances on the mound with the Cubs and Rays last year, including 28 with the latter. He had a 4.46 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP and 26 strikeouts in 34 1/3 innings. Having also worn the colors of the Kansas City Royals, his career ERA is 4.98.
