NHL unveils Canadiens Team of the Quarter Century

MONTREAL – Twenty-five years have passed in the current century and the League has made its decision.

The NHL announced the first and second Canadiens Quarter-Century Teams on Sunday, as the Habs prepare to host the New York Rangers at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Bell Centre.

Members of the media, former NHL players and club managers helped select the team, which each includes three forwards, two defensemen and one goalie for a total of 12 players.

The league-wide initiative was launched in December with the aim of highlighting the best players to have played with each franchise over the last 25 years (or the last quarter century). The campaign will conclude with a fan vote to elect the entire NHL Team of the Quarter Century. Voting will take place from February 12 to 26 on NHL.com/fr and X.

Many memorable moments marked the Club between 2000 and 2025, including the team’s centennial season in 2008-2009, two appearances in the Eastern Conference final in 2010 and 2014, and an incredible playoff run. having extended to the Stanley Cup final in 2021. Several players have also etched their names in the history of Sainte-Flanelle during this period, whether setting franchise records or receiving league honors. One of the most decorated Canadiens players during this era is Carey Price, who notably established a new record for the number of victories signed by a Habs goalie (361) in addition to winning the Vezina and Hart trophies, among others.

Unsurprisingly, Price was named to the Canadiens’ first Quarter Century Team. Check out the full list of players, listed in alphabetical order, below.
