L’Heureux sets the table for a very lively fight

Quebec forward Zachary L’Heureux should have expected to receive visitors during the game between the Nashville Predators and the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, and that’s exactly what happened.

On January 31, the first-year player made a move that earned him a three-game suspension after tripping defenseman Jared Spurgeon. The Wild captain then crashed heavily against the boards.

At Bridgestone Arena on Saturday, Wild forward Yakov Trenin invited L’Heureux to waltz and the latter accepted his opponent’s invitation from the first moments of the match. However, the former Moncton Wildcats was completely dominated by the Russian, who dealt him several blows. Except it didn’t end there, because Predators defenseman Luke Schenn threw down the gloves moments later with forward Marcus Foligno in a very heated fight. A SEQUENCE TO SEE IN MAIN VIDEO.

As for Spurgeon, he has still not returned to the game and his state of health is re-evaluated weekly. Foligno had already set the table before the meeting.

“When you see a guy take a nasty hit, there has to be a response to that kind of thing. L’Heureux’s case is blatant, he was trying to hurt someone,” the robust striker assured The Athletic earlier this week.

“We go to the boards so many times with the defensemen,” he continued. “You just have to guide them. It’s not the 1980s or 1990s where you could get away with anything for a forecheck.”

As a reminder, the Quebecer had already had to throw in the gloves with Ben Jones following his action. This is L’Heureux’s fourth match since returning from suspension. The 21-year-old has nine points and 32 penalty minutes in 36 games this season.
