So far, there aren’t really any players who have largely disappointed this season among the Canadiens.
Cayden Primeau is one of the names that comes to mind in terms of disappointment, but there is also Christian Dvorak.
For Dvorak, the chances of seeing him again next year are quite slim.
Jake Evans is having quite a season and is an excellent center bottom-6. With the probable departure of Dvorak, another center would be missing on the last two lines for next season.
To support Evans, David Ettedgui offered to sign Sam Bennett as a 3rd center this summer, if he will not extend with the Florida Panthers.
And honestly, it makes a lot of sense.
This is what he announced yesterday on BPM Sports.
We know what Bennett can bring to a team, especially in the playoffs, he who played a key role in winning the Stanley Cup last summer.
He scored 7 goals and had 7 assists in 19 games, while playing just over 16 minutes per game during the spring dance.
He doesn’t hesitate to strike and go where it pays. It is also very effective along the bands.
The CH announced earlier this season that it would look to add a strong forward for the bottom-6.
-And even though we would have to wait until this summer, Bennett would be one of the best options, if not the best option for this role.
On the other hand, we must not forget that the CH will have to re-sign Evans and it will not be cheap. He should be able to get at least $4 million per year, even if it’s been a little more difficult for him lately.
If in addition the CH must pay good money to acquire Bennett, Kent Hughes will have to carefully look at the payroll for the years to come. Otherwise, he may have to make difficult choices.
Let’s say that I have complete confidence in Kent Hughes for the future of the Habs. The Montreal club is in very good hands.
In burst
– Too bad for the Penguins.
– Interesting.
– Chabot is undoubtedly happy to finally have a regular partner at his side.
– Indeed.
– That’s the least we can say.
