The Fribourgeoise finished 3rd in the women’s slopestyle event in Laax. A podium which will give confidence after disappointing results in Big Air recently. Andri Ragettli finished 6th.
Mathilde Gremaud is always one of the skiers to beat in slopestyle and proved it once again by getting on the podium on Friday in Laax. The Globe holder in the specialty finished 3rd behind the Chinese Eileen Gu and the Canadian Megan Oldham. After three competitions in a row in Big Air without getting on the box, it’s a welcome return to the top for the 24-year-old from Fribourg.
Second in qualifying on Tuesday, the skier got off to a rather disappointing start in the final, scoring just 43.98 points on her first run to finish in 7th place. But she is not an Olympic champion for nothing. A much stronger second run finally put her in 3rd place and on the podium for the second time this season with 72.59 points, just 0.21 points behind Megan Oldham.
Eileen Gu brille from Laax
Eileen Gu, who had missed the opening event of the season in Stubai, largely overcame her rivals with two excellent runs and claimed her third victory in the World Cup discipline. Mathilde Gremaud, however, keeps the yellow jersey for the moment. For Sarah Höfflin, the day did not go as she would have liked and she finished 8th. Anouk Andraska did not qualify for the finals.
-Andri Ragettli au bas du podium
Among the men, Andri Ragettli had to settle for 6th place, ahead of Valentin Morel in 10th. Colin Wili (14th), Kim Gubser (15th) and Fabian Bösch (20th) finished further back. The Norwegian Birk Ruud, already a winner in Laax last year, won his 9th slopestyle victory in the World Cup, ahead of the Americans Mac Forehand and Alex Hall.
