Cahors. Two short defeats for the RQL on the road

The 2 RQL teams were traveling for the last day of the brewing pools: a short defeat for the cadets in Puylaurens (12 to 5), against the Sor-Agout team. The match started well for the young Lotois with a try from Alex Montussac concluding a good three-quarter attack in the 6th minute. RQL seemed to hold the match by occupying the field and pressing their opponent well. But as the minutes passed, the Tarnais regained confidence and on a very soft pitch brought their forwards into play. In the 20th minute, on a maul release in the Lotois 22 meters, they played very well on a closed side and scored a converted try. At the last minute of the first period, on a counterattack, Sor-Agout scores a second try in the corner (Halftime 12 to 5 for Sor-Agout).

In the second period, the RQL cadets dominated and camped for long minutes in the opposing camp but the Tarn defense held firm, soft ground and wind favoring hand mistakes and clumsiness; no points will be scored. RQL loses a match well within its reach. Final score 12 to 5 for Sor-Agout. The RQL cadets finish 6th in their group. For their last match of the brewing groups, the RQL juniors came to Graulhet with intentions. But the bad weather and the very soft ground did not facilitate the three-quarter game. The two teams, very close in level of play, battled but apart from two penalties, did not score. Halftime 3 to 3. In the second half, same scenario, both teams played a trench game with upwind play. RQL takes the advantage on a penalty from its gunner Gabin Combarieu-Pinto.

The match is close and the two forward packs multiply the combat phases on ordered scrums or mauls. In the last minutes of the match, Graulhet scores a converted try. Final score 10 to 6 for the Tarnais. The RQL juniors finish 4th in their brewing group. Saturday January 18, the “regional” cadets and juniors meet Villefranche-de-Rouergue at the Desprats stadium.
