Last December, it was against Le Havre, a Ligue 1 team, that Stade Briochin secured its ticket to the 16e final of the Coupe de France. And for the next round against Annecy, the excitement will go up a notch even if the supporters were hoping for a better poster: “I would have liked PSG, but that will be for next time, in the next round perhaps,” assures Jacques, a Briochin supporter.
There’s no question of getting excited, that’s what the president and coach of the Saint-Brieuc club says. Guillaume Allanou already knows that Wednesday’s opponent will be difficult to maneuver: “I put the players, the club environment on alert because we beat a Ligue 1, so that’s it, people think it’s possible, but to repeat an exploit against a team which is in a completely spiral different from Le Havre, it’s going to be even more complicated.”
Access to an 8e of the final will undoubtedly be difficult but not impossible for Briochins, united in defense and whose last rampart has managed to keep its clean sheets since the start of the competition.
“It’s a very interesting stat but above all it highlights the state of mind and the solidity of the team. And it’s very important, it allows us to have a good run today. We defended well , we all defend together”testifies Franck L’Hostis, goalkeeper of Stade Briochin.
The experienced central defender Chirstophe Kerbrat, who won the trophy in 2014 in the ranks of En Avant de Guingamp, knows that he will have to be rigorous to avoid regretting anything at the end of the game: “We will have to be patient, very focused, and if we have the slightest breach, know how to seize it”he adds.

On the financial side, a course in the French Cup is not neutral for a National 2 team and gives fresh air to the club’s projects. “For the budget of the stadium, we are around 1.3 million euros and there, just from the allocations of the Federation, we are around 80,000 euros. And there, I am not talking about the ticketing , refreshment bars etc so it’s a real big plus in our finances”concludes Coralie Labbé, general director of Stade Briochin. All that remains is to extend the great adventure. Extend the dream to write perhaps one of the most beautiful chapters in the club’s history.
