The publication of the annual report on offenses linked to illegal poaching by the National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) has revived concerns about the effects of these practices on the balance of ecosystems. According to environmentalists, it is mainly wild species that suffer the most dramatic consequences of this illegal behavior.
The Agency’s official figures show 170 recorded violations, documented in 115 reports. These offenses include hunting in protected areas, night hunting, use of prohibited equipment, and the capture, possession or trade of protected species, such as gazelles and goldfinches.
The Agency announced its intention to strengthen the fight against poaching during the current season, in particular by intensifying checks on hunters.
-The report also states that during the season, 9 unfortunate accidents took place, mainly due to non-compliance with safety regulations when using hunting weapons.
The Agency reminded hunters of the importance of scrupulously following safety instructions and taking the necessary precautions to avoid any incident.
