In recent weeks, the trainer market has accelerated in Top 14 and Pro D2. Several clubs in France wish to finalize their staff for next season, including Vannes, Grenoble, Nevers and Montpellier.
Things are moving among the coaches! Whether in the first or second division, there is no shortage of discussions within certain clubs, wanting to keep their best elements or strengthen themselves in terms of staff.
On the Montpellier sidethe current manager of Béziers Pierre Caillet was recently received to potentially join the technical management. The operation will not materialize since Antoine Battut will ultimately extend his contract in Hérault as indicated by our colleagues at The Team. For a time in contact with the Bordeaux-Bègles Union, the former flanker will therefore continue his mission at the MHR. The same goes for Steven Setephano, the defense coach at Castres. The former third row is now linked to the CO until 2028. A little further east, it is Provence Rugby which is very active. Looking for a forward coach, it seems that the Aix club has found what they are looking for.
It will not be Mathieu Cidre, who has been tracking for many weeks, will extend the adventure to Vannes. The lucky person would be named Sébastien Fouassier. In charge of the Nevers forwards since 2015, the former Aubenas player should have a change of scenery and join Provence at the end of this season. Still on the subject of Nevers, Xavier Péméja should, for his part, take a step back during the next exercise. Even if he should stay in Nièvre, the current manager of Uson could move away from the green rectangle. As a reminder, Péméja offered his resignation last December, refused at the time by the Neversois leaders. Since then, victories have returned to the Pré-Fleuri side.
Jeff Dubois interests several clubs
Dax’s good results since his arrival have not gone unnoticed. Promoted to Pro D2 in summer 2023, USD enjoys second division with Jeff Dubois as manager. The latter, despite a contract which runs until 2027, is logically coveted. Several clubs in the elite lobby have looked into the matter.
They too are having a magnificent season. After sixteen days, the FCG of the Nicolas Nadau-Patrick Pezery duo is at the top of the ranking with ten points ahead of its runner-up, CA Brive. The two men have still not extended their contract in Isère. Discussions are still ongoing and the file is well advanced. The only certainty regarding Grenoble is that defense coach Tom Palmer will not stay at the end of this 2024-2025 financial year. He will be replaced position by position by Lionel Ringeval who is already involved on a daily basis with the team.
