A 20-year-old Floridian woman was arrested Sunday for leaving her 5-year-old son alone in a park as punishment.
Alize Angel Rodriguez was arrested near Meridian Avenue after calls about an abandoned child at a park, NBC News reported Monday.
According to initial information, the mother left the area in a Toyota vehicle in the company of a man, whose identity has not been revealed.
When police arrived on scene, they found the boy in the park who told them that his mother often leaves him alone to punish him for misbehavior.
Located further away, the young woman, under the influence of alcohol, threw her handbag which contained Xanax pills and a small quantity of cannabis, but the police recovered it.
Ms. Rodriguez was incarcerated while waiting to be heard by a judge, while the little boy was picked up by his grandmother for custody, according to the NBC network.
