Victim of racist insults on social networks after PSG’s 3-1 victory over Brest on Saturday, Portuguese defender Nuno Mendes received support from the Parisian club on Sunday September 15. “Paris-Saint-Germain gives its full support to its player Nuno Mendes, who was the target of insulting and racist remarks on social networks on the sidelines of last night’s match against Stade Brestois” writes the reigning French champion club on its X account.

The Portuguese international (28 caps) had caused a penalty after a foul on Brest’s Ludovic Ajorque, in the 29th minutee minute of play, and Romain Del Castillo had opened the scoring of the match despite Parisian domination.

“Paris-Saint-Germain does not tolerate any form of racism, anti-Semitism or any other form of discrimination. The racial insults directed at Nuno Mendes are totally unacceptable. We firmly support Nuno and all those concerned, and we are working with the authorities and relevant associations to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions,” specifies the Parisian club.

After the match won by his club, Nuno Mendes denounced racist remarks aimed at him, by sharing on Instagram the screenshot of a message he had just received from a supporter.

Solid leader of Ligue 1 with four victories in as many matches, PSG begins its Champions League campaign on Wednesday with the reception of Girona, surprise team of the last Liga season.
