Joël Schmied leaves FC Sion for Cologne – rts.ch
Joël Schmied (26 years old) leaves FC Sion a few days before the resumption. The central defender has signed a contract until 2029 with Cologne, leader of the 2nd Bundesliga.
Schmied arrived in Valais in August 2021 and quickly established himself as one of the team’s executives. He greatly contributed to the club’s return to the Super League and to the Sédunois’ good first round during the current season, playing in all matches and scoring three goals.
This transfer rewards Joël’s hard work over the years and his dedication to FC Sion, the club wrote on its website. Barthélémy Constantin, sports director, is working to find a replacement for the defender.
