Who will finish with the best record in the Champions Cup group stage? How many French clubs will qualify? Will all South African teams be eliminated? The answers to his questions will be known at the end of the 4e and last day of the group stage which will take place on January 17, 18 and 19. We will especially know the complete table of 8es final : we help you see more clearly how it is established.

Champions Cup: who is qualified?

It’s quite simple: the first four in each group – which includes 6 clubs – qualify for the final phase of the Champions Cup.

Knowing that there are 4 groups, that makes 16 qualified, and therefore the start of a final phase via 8es final (knockout match).

Champions Cup: the final phase table

The EPCR has decided in its regulations to rank the qualifiers from 1 to 16 in order to define the posters of the 8es of final. This is established according to the number of points obtained during the 4 group matches.

But there is a BUT! The teams ranked 1 to 4 are only the teams which finished at the head of the group. For example, , which currently has the second best record, but which is “only” 2e of group A behind -Bègles, will not be classified between positions 1 to 4. But between places 5 to 8.

To summarize: the pool winners will be ranked from 1 to 4, the second pools from 5 to 8, the third pools from 9 to 12, and the fourth pools from 13 to 16.

Precision

If two teams have the same number of points in the standings, they are decided by their respective general goal average.

The posters of the 8es final are then established as follows: 1is facing 16e2e against 15e3e facing 14e etc…
