We know that Chinese manufacturers are not shying away from Belgium, thanks to recent spots in the Xpeng P7 and Xpeng G9. In Ruisbroek near Brussels, luck smiled on us again. The team from Le Moniteur Automobile who were preparing to leave for a report in France came across this barely disguised test prototype of the new Zeekr X.
Admittedly, we didn’t know right away which car we were dealing with. The front logo didn’t tell us anything and the rear badge was obscured, but on the rims it read Zeekr. If we add to that the Swedish license plates, the pieces of the puzzle quickly fell into place: we were in the presence of the new Zeekr X.
Volvo EX30
Zeekr is a Chinese manufacturer belonging to the Geely empire, just like Polestar and Volvo, for example. And it is no coincidence that we mention the Swedish manufacturer, because this Zeekr X is the cousin of the new Volvo EX30. It is therefore an electric SUV that is based on Geely’s SEA platform, which is also used by the SUV Smart #1.
The Zeekr X is a relatively compact SUV, whose body does not exceed 4.45 m. The electric powertrain is the same as the Smart #1 (and the Volvo EX30). The battery has a capacity of 66 kWh and promises a range of over 400 km. The version with an electric motor develops 272 hp, while the Zeekr X equipped with two electric motors has a power of 428 hp.
From 2023
The Chinese manufacturer, which was only founded in 2021, has announced that it will arrive in Europe in 2023. Besides the Zeekr X, there is also talk of the Zeekr 001, a sporty shooting brake that looks more like the Porsche Taycan. And which promises a range of more than 1000 km
Have you spotted a test prototype? If so, please send the photos to [email protected], mentioning the date and place where you saw the car. Thanks in advance !
