In his final stint as an active player in the National Hockey League (NHL), goaltender Marc-André Fleury was widely acclaimed by the Las Vegas crowd on Sunday evening.

The Quebecer was not in uniform for this game between the Minnesota Wild and the Golden Knights after making 36 saves against the San Jose Sharks the day before. The fans at T-Mobile Arena, however, did not fail to honor him.

During a commercial break, the Knights’ house announcer highlighted the brilliant career of Fleury, who will retire at the end of the campaign. With emotion, “Flower” greeted the crowd. Watch in main video.
The 40-year-old veteran played an important role in the history of the Golden Knights by playing the first four seasons of their existence. Thanks to Fleury’s exploits, they reached the Stanley Cup final in their first campaign, in 2017-2018.
With 570 career victories, the Sorel-Tracy native is the second winningest goalie of all time.
Having had a superb season, Wild number 1 Filip Gustavsson, however, had his hands full against the Golden Knights who had to deal with the absence of Jack Eichel. The local favorites won 4-1, throwing 37 times towards the Swedish goalkeeper.
The Minnesota representatives were much less dangerous with only 16 shots. They opened the scoring through Ryan Hartman, but Vegas responded with four goals, including two on the power play from Pavel Dorofeyev.
