The Abbotsford golfer triumphed with a three-foot putt on the second additional hole.

Taylor won the 2023 Canadian Open on the fourth overtime hole at Oakdale in Toronto. This home win was acquired with a 70-foot roll for an eagle.

After 72 holes Sunday, he and Echavarria were deadlocked at 264 (under 16), having each shot 65.

Taylor extended the suspense with an eagle at 18e hole—he sent a 60-foot approach shot into the cup. At this same hole, Echavarria excelled from a bunker.

The first extension hole ended with a birdie on each side.

In the second, Taylor reissued, while Echavarria had to settle for a par.

“I’m still a little shocked by this conclusion,” Taylor said, with a smile.

Taylor overcame two misses as he had birdie opportunities from short distances late in the round.

Taylor obtained a fifth career victory, the last three of which came in overtime.

JJ Spaun (68) and Stephan Jaeger (67) finished at 15 under.
