The Anaheim Ducks, but especially forward Cutter Gauthier, had a very bad time against the Flyers in Philadelphia on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center.

John Tortorella’s men made short work of the Californian club, winning 6-0. In addition to the one-sided final score, it was above all the return of striker Cutter Gauthier to Philadelphia which retained the ‘attention. Drafted fifth in the 2022 National Hockey League (NHL) draft by the Flyers, Gauthier ultimately never played for the Pennsylvania club, having clearly indicated that he did not want to play with the team.

He was then traded to the Ducks last season for defenseman Jamie Drysdale. And as chance always does, the fullback scored to give his team a 2-0 lead in the first period. The ordeal did not end at that moment for Gauthier, he who was insulted by the many supporters present in the amphitheater.

The Flyers players also did not hesitate to heckle Gauthier.

Besides Drysdale, Morgan Frost, Owen Tippett, Ryan Poehling, Matvei Michkov and Garnet Hathaway scored for the Flyers.

Samuel Ersson, for his part, recorded a 22-save shutout. Philadelphia is sixth in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 18-20-5.

Hellebuyck stands tall against the Avalanche

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck once again proved why he is favored to win the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the best goaltender on the circuit. Indeed, he made a 22-save shutout in a 3-0 victory for his team against the Colorado Avalanche.

Nikolaj Ehlers, twice, and Mark Scheifele shook the strings for Winnipeg.

The Jets (29-12-3), at the top of the Central section, now have a five-point lead over the Minnesota Wild (26-12-4), who are second. Note, however, that the Wild has two games in hand over the Manitoba team. The Avalanche (26-17-1) are seventh in the Western Conference.

Winnipeg will return to action against the Canucks on Tuesday.
