Bayern breaks silence again for Davies

This is a case that has been making headlines in the media for several months now. Where will Alphonso Davies play next season, he who is the subject of a fierce battle between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, his current club? Present at the press conference, Max Eberl did not escape a question on this subject: “It’s no secret that we speak with the agents of players whose contracts are expiring. We have a game on Saturday, so I rule out anything happening this week. What we all agree on is that we will not enter the phase of important matches [sans décision]. Everyone has an interest in us having a successful second half of the season with Bayern Munich. We try to satisfy all parties” declared the Bavarian sports director.

Eberl confirms discussions!

A question that Vincent Kompany did not escape either: “From a purely sporting point of view, it is clear what Phonzy (Alphonso Davies) has given us. He is a player who is progressing and whose performances are important. I’m sure he will improve further. What he is doing now is good, and he will do even better in the future” he declared. As a reminder, the trend would increasingly be towards an extension in Munich, although he would have a verbal agreement with Real Madrid.

For his part, the player was questioned by the Bundesliga media about the second half of the season and his ambitions: “I knew Bayern were a top team even before signing here. Last year, missing the trophy was tough. It was hard for everyone. I think it was the first time most of the guys had experienced this. This year we are hungrier than last year. We know that we cannot underestimate anyone. Last year showed that. Every match is important. It is important to take the three points, put in a good performance and get back to winning ways. It hurts a little, that’s for sure. We really want to come back stronger this year” he declared before commenting on the C1 final which will take place at the Allianz Arena: “Who wouldn’t want to play a Champions League final in their stadium? I know for a fact the fans would love it, and so would we. But getting there will be difficult, and we know it. We have the chemistry and motivation to make it happen. Getting there would mean a lot to everyone. And obviously winning at home would be…I don’t know how to describe it because I haven’t been there yet, so I hope the next time we sit down I can tell you what I have felt, if or when we will lift the trophy at home“. One thing is certain, his contractual situation does not seem to deviate him from his objectives!
