Young midfielder of the prestigious club Dakar Sacré-Cœur (DSC), Fatoumata Diouldé Dione, in an interview with dsports.sn, embodies determination and passion for football. Originally from Touba, a city with strong religious traditions, she was able to overcome obstacles to flourish in her sporting career.
During her stays in Touba, Fatoumata trained in Mbacké, adopting a subterfuge to respect local rules: she went into civilian clothes, changed on site to play, then changed back into street clothes after training.
Despite the weight of Touba’s traditions, Fatoumata never encountered difficulties with religious authorities, thanks to his respect for the rules and his adaptation. “I know what the city tolerates or prohibits. So, I respect the rules, and they don’t stop you if you’re careful,” she confides with confidence.
His career is also marked by exemplary academic success. Holder of a degree in Business Creation and Management at ISEG in Dakar, she plans to pursue a master’s degree this year, brilliantly combining studies and sport.
-After starting out at Baobab FC, a second division club in Tambacounda, she climbed the ranks playing for the Aigles de la Médina, then the Amazones de Grand Yoff, before joining Dakar Sacré-Cœur. This journey, nourished by her talent spotted since childhood, testifies to her tenacity and her love for football, a sport that she learned to master while playing with the boys in her neighborhood in Tamba.
Its story illustrates a journey punctuated by challenges, but guided by passion and determination, at the crossroads of traditions and modernity.
