For their first major meeting of the year, the throwers will discover an unusual destination, since the European Throwing Cup is heading to Cyprus. The weather conditions should favor performance there.

April 12-13: European Road Running Championships in Brussels (Belgium)
One of the big novelties of the season will take place in spring, in Belgium. The capital of Europe will also be the road running capital for a weekend, with 10 km, half-marathon and marathon races. Some of the leaders of the Old Continent have already announced that they are making this an important objective.
May 10-11: World Relays in Guangzhou (China)
After the Bahamas and Japan, it is China’s turn to host the favorite competition for relay lovers. 4x100m and 4x400m are on the program, and the best way to get a ticket for the Tokyo Worlds is through a successful race on the coast of the China Sea.
May 18: European Team Walking Championships in Podebrady (Czech Republic)
This is an unmissable event, an institution, even. The European team walking races, over 10 km (for U20s), 20 km, and 35 km, will take place in the Mecca of the discipline, in Podebrady. In the Czech Republic, walkers will tackle “classic” distances for one of the last times before the announced transition to marathon and half-marathon.
May 24: European Cup 10,000m in Pacé
The 10,000m European Cup returns to Pacé for the third time, two years after the last edition. The best cross-country skiers on the continent will meet in Ille-et-Villaine for a day dedicated to the longest track event. Winners in 2021 and 2022, the French men will try to return to victory on the track at the René Chasseboeuf stadium.
June 20: Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris
The biggest meeting in France will take place on June 20 at the Charléty stadium. A year after the world records of Yaroslava Mahuchykh (high jump) and Faith Kipyegon (1500 m), the two events will be on the program again, just like the men’s 800 m, which saw Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Gabriel Tual shine in 2024. We’re salivating in advance.
June 27-29: European Team Championships in Madrid (Spain)
The sixteen greatest nations on the Continent will compete in three days of epic games, across all athletic disciplines, in the Spanish capital, the last weekend of June. Seventh in 2023 in Chorzow (Poland), the Blues will try to return to the podium, four years after their last appearance on the box.
August 1-3: French Elite Championships in Talence
A major venue for combined events, the Pierre-Paul Bernard stadium in Talence will this time host the French Elite championships for the first time in its history. September 13 to 21: World Championships in Tokyo (Japan)
Four years after the Olympic Games, which were so special due to being held behind closed doors, the atmosphere should be completely different in the Tokyo Olympic stadium. Thirty years after the exploits of Mike Powell, Carl Lewis, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Marie-José Pérec, Tokyo will once again welcome the elite of athletics. An event not to be missed for anything in the world.
September 25-28: Off-road World Championships in Canfranc (Spain)
Dominators at the European Championships in 2024, and still very comfortable at the World Championships for fifteen years, trail runners and mountain runners will tackle the steep trails of the Spanish Pyrenees for four days, with the ambition of remaining the one of the best nations in the world.
September 26-28: World Road Racing Championships in San Diego (United States)

October 18-19: 24-hour world championships in Albi
Six years later, the 24-hour World Championships are back in Albi. On the banks of the Tarn, the legendary Lithuanian Aleksandr Sorokin could win a third title in a row, and perhaps even try to exceed 300 km again. A rare spectacle, worth seeing at least once if you like endurance events.
14 December: European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa (Portugal)
As usual, the European cross championships will close the calendar year. Fertile land of the discipline, Portugal will organize the event for the fourth time in its history, in a fourth different location. In Lisbon, in 2019, Jimmy Gressier and the men’s U23s triumphed there, which could perhaps give them ideas.
