The Lake Geneva derby is synonymous with great rivalry. On the ice, in the stands, but also… on social networks. Since the start of the season, the communications teams of two Lake Geneva clubs have been at each other's throats at every opportunity. For now, in this little game, it's 2-1 for the Vaudois, who rode on the victory of their team (3-0) Saturday evening in the Lake Geneva derby to throw a dig at the Genevans.

The post is short and goes straight to the point, we are tempted to write. Unlike the GSHC which did not know how to light the red lamp on Saturday at the Vaudoise Arena. “You seemed a little confused this evening to find the net,” wrote the LHC communications team on X. Without forgetting, of course, to tag the official Genève-Servette account.

That's not all: “To avoid taking any risks, here is the route to follow for the return.” Everything is complemented by a Google Maps link indicating the route between the Vaudoise Arena and Les Vernets. Clever.

If we tell you that the Lions lead 2-1 in this social media battle, it's because two first passes took place earlier in the season. It was the LHC communications team that drew the line on October 23, after the Lions' victory at Les Vernets, the first of the season (3-2).

The people of Lausanne had bounced back, with rather well-found puns, on the power outage that had occurred a few days earlier in the Geneva ice rink, which had led to the cancellation of the match between the GSHC and Langnau. “Kevin Pasche panicked the counters again this evening by going against the grain of the Geneva attack. A high-flying performance”, or even “The Lausanne collective will not have suffered a breakdown”. A few hours earlier, the LHC community manager had announced a derby “in an electric atmosphere”.

His GSHC counterpart had the opportunity to respond a few weeks later, all with a good dose of self-deprecation. “While it is true that the Vernets ice rink sometimes encounters electricity problems, the air conditioning at the Vaudoise Aréna works very well!” This post followed the 5-0 success of the GSHC in the Champions Hockey League, which had inevitably thrown a chill on Malley and made the evening difficult for the Lausanne supporters.

The next Lake Geneva derby will be played on Sunday February 2 in Les Vernets. There is no doubt that the community managers of the two clubs have circled the date in their diaries.
