A traditional sporting event during the Christmas holidays, the futsal tournament of the Sports Union (USQ) will be held this year from December 27 to 29. More than 70 teams of five players will take part in the competition which will involve the U11 and U13 categories.

Boys and girls

Like last year, it is the women in the U13 category who will open the tournament, Friday December 27, in the Cordiers room, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nearly ten teams will be involved. The rest of the program will concern the boys, Saturday December 28 and Sunday December 29, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the U11s playing in the Kerneuzec room as part of the Albert-Colin challenge and the U13s in the Cordiers room for the Sébastien-Challenge Evennou.

“The Saturday day will concern the local teams with 20 clubs in U11 and 16 clubs in U13, the two best teams will obtain their qualification for the Sunday day which will also concern fourteen other clubs per category. We keep the usual formula with seven-minute matches,” explains Gurvan Degueille, head of an organization of around fifty volunteers.

Clubs coming from far away

For its tournament, the USQ received commitments from teams coming from far away, such as , Issy-les-Moulineaux, , , Saint-Cyr-sur- and from regional teams, such as Quimper, Pontivy, Saint -Renan or Concarneau. The Quimperlé clubs will be well represented with FC Quimperlé, for the U13 women’s tournament and the Quimperlois USQ-FCQ group for the men’s tournaments.

Last year, the tournaments were won by FC Quimperlé for the U13 girls, Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire in the U13 boys and Plouzané in the U11 boys.
