Since his arrival at Anderlecht, Kasper Dolberg has yet to miss a penalty. He has already scored eight, including four this season in the league. Anders Dreyer ensures that his compatriot can present himself optimally on the penalty spot.
It’s a ritual they’ve been doing for a while now. Everyone thinks Dreyer is going to take the penalty because he is standing on the penalty spot with the ball in his hand. When the VAR check is completed and the referee indicates that the penalty can be taken, Dreyer quickly hands the ball to Dolberg.
The latter then sends the ball beyond the goalkeeper. “(smiles) We’ve been doing this for a while now. We discussed it again before the match, because we saw Tolu miss his penalty against Club Brugge.”
“He stood there for three-four minutes waiting on the penalty spot. At that moment all kinds of thoughts go through your mind. We decided a while ago that we would do it like this and it works. I can concentrate quietly and no one comes to talk to me.”
In the meantime, Dolberg has scored 12 goals and can now consider himself the sole top scorer. He previously shared this honor with Bertaccini and Tolu. “That’s good,” he responded. Although this has become a ‘running joke’ between him and journalists.
“It’s not a goal in itself. Of course I want to score as many goals as possible and I start every game with the intention of scoring one. But if I can help the team in another way , I do.”
