Skov Olsen often misunderstood: “I sometimes wonder if he likes playing football”

It was in a strange way to say the least that Andreas Skov Olsen celebrated his goal against Genk. The Dane made several gestures asking for silence, thus seeming to respond to his detractors. Hans Vanaken also notes that Skov Olsen sometimes goes through difficult times at Club Brugge.

Still recently considered the best player in the Belgian championship, the Dane has been heavily criticized in recent weeks, but for Vanaken, there is no doubt that he is one of the best players at Club Bruges. “There is no doubt about his qualities or his talent. I always feel like, even when he’s not as good in a match, there’s always a moment where he’s going to show up,” Vanaken said on Extra Time.

However, Skov Olsen is also a player who requires a special approach, as Vanaken has already noticed. “It’s sometimes difficult to pin down,” Vanaken continues. “And sometimes you even wonder if he really likes playing football. With his way of being on the pitch, he doesn’t always give that impression. But when you play as well as him, I think that must be the case,” explains Vanaken.

No question of doing without it

But there is no question for Vanaken of doing without Skov Olsen. “We just have to try to get him to be at his best and totally focused on us. Then everything will be fine for him,” he concludes.
