This Sunday, December 15, the Rugby Club Revelois (RCR) faced RC Mauguio Carnon Pays d’Or, last in the group, in a crucial match before the break. The Revélois quickly set their pace: a penalty in the second minute and a converted try in the tenth allowed them to lead 10-0. Despite an unfortunate interception in the 22nd minute which gave Mauguio a try, Revel was able to regain control thanks to a new penalty in the 29th minute. Just before halftime, a try converted into a corner consolidated their lead (20-10). In the second half, Revel struck hard with another converted try in the 46th minute, bringing the score to 27-10. Even after receiving a yellow card for a high tackle, the team held on and scored a penalty in the 62nd minute (30-10). The locals, however, did not give up: they scored two tries in the final minutes, but Revel secured their victory thanks to a final penalty in the 71st minute. Final score: 33-24 for RCR.
Victory before the truce
This match, played in excellent spirit, was crucial for the RCR, which consolidated its ninth place in the standings. “This victory allows us to approach the holiday break more calmly,” confides Rémi Bousquel, secretary of the club. The reserve, for its part, lost 22-8. The RCR will start the year 2025 with a series of home matches, starting the second weekend of January, with an expected meeting against Uzès.
