Trent Frederic has established himself as an important cog in the Boston Bruins offense over the years, but his future could lie elsewhere.
Indeed, the 26-year-old striker will be an uncompensated free agent at the end of this season, and there is no indication at the moment that the two camps have found common ground regarding a possible contract extension.

This situation therefore intrigues several teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), and according to informant Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Bruins could receive multiple calls about the 6’3″ player.
“There are definitely teams that think the Bruins and Frederic are not going to be able to get a deal done,” he said on the “32 Thoughts” podcast, which aired Monday.
“He’s the type of player that playoff teams will want,” the journalist continued. They’re really going to get a guy like that. He’s a good teammate, he’s competitive.”
Friedman also suggested that a team like the Blues could be a contender in this case, Frederic being a St. Louis native.
Last year, the man who was chosen 29th overall in the 2016 NHL draft had his best career season, amassing 18 goals and 22 assists for 40 points in 82 games. Since the start of this campaign, Frederic has hit the target five times, for a total of 11 points in 32 outings.
The former University of Wisconsin player has a $2.3 million impact on the Bruins’ payroll.
