Every moment spent by Sadio Mané in Bourges is an event. The Senegalese star, 32, legend of Liverpool in England and former player of Bayern Munich in Germany, is taking advantage of his winter break with his club Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia to visit his club Bourges FC.
He will spend several days in Bourges with a busy schedule. Meeting with the players, the staff and its brand new coach, elected officials, partners… Bourges FC formalized the departure of Walid Aïchour last week, after disappointing results in National 2, the fourth level of French football. To replace him, Senegalese president Cheick Sylla and the owner, Sadio Mané, decided to appoint Romain Revelli, who notably experienced Ligue 2 and the National.
“It’s going well, it always makes me happy to come to Bourges, it’s my second city”assures Sadio Mané, then questioned about the change of coach. “We have to make choices. Bourges FC is currently 9th in its National 2 championship, already far from first place with 15 points behind despite a game in hand. Upon his arrival, the Al-Nassr winger had nevertheless assured that he wanted to make Bourges a leading club, but for the moment must be patient in a semi-professional championship, where many teams are in short supply. of points (7 points difference between 3rd and 12th place).
The interest in the arrival of Sadio Mané is also to find new sponsors to support the club. “I think it’s good to involve local partners. Bourges is a football town and a lot of people love football. Without them, we won’t be able to do anything, it’s necessary to stick together and work to help the club grow.”
As a reminder, upon his arrival, Sadio Mané assured that he wanted to reach Ligue 2 by 2030. Despite this objective, the key word is “patience”. “A club cannot be decreed, it is built. There is a lot of waiting and desire, but we know that to do things well, you have to take the time to build them well”details the president of Bourges FC, Cheikh Sylla.
Others are less patient and some supporters have an idea in mind. “He is 32 years old, he could still do a few seasons at the high level and then finish at Bourges.
