Top start this Thursday, December 19 at 11 a.m. Registrations for the Mont-Blanc Ultra trail races begin this week. UTMB, CCC, OCC, TDS, MCC, ETC, YCC and PTL, candidates have until the evening of January 9 to submit their pre-registration file, before the announcement of the results of the draw on January 16.
This year, the organization is changing the registration conditions for the MCC (Martigny-Combe – Chamonix). This 40 km trail reserved for volunteers, locals and partners, is also a victim of its success. “Last year, filling in four hours created a bit of frustration locally,” comments Isabelle Viseux-Poletti. The 1,000 bibs were not enough!
Residents of Espace Mont-Blanc have a priority day to register for the MCC
The director of UTMB Mont-Blanc therefore presents a new strategy. “For this year, we have sequenced the registrations a little more, we are going to do two rounds. Ultra-locals will have 24-hour priority to register.” Residents of the twenty or so municipalities co-organizing one of the UTMB races, including the PTL, are considered ultra-local. More or less, we are talking about the Espace Mont-Blanc.
For this MCC race, the organization chooses not to implement the draw system and prefers to favor its target audiences. “The idea is that we don’t end up with locals who didn’t have time to pick up their bib, because they were busy and they were only able to take care of it on evening,” assures Isabelle Viseux-Poletti.
From Friday December 20, the circle will expand to include residents of the four territories: Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Val d’Aosta and Valais. Here again, to register, you must enter your postal address in your account, before going to the MCC registration tab. Residents of these regions will have a dedicated week. Finally, if there are still places left, all trail runners can possibly request to run these 40 km.
