Formula 1 | Fittipaldi: Russell-Verstappen rivalry ‘a good thing’

Emerson Fittipaldi thinks the little war of words between George Russell and Max Verstappen is a good thing for . The 1972 and 1974 world champion believes that this is the way to see the personality of the drivers.

“I really like this, because it shows the personality of each athlete” Fittipaldi said. “No matter what sport you play, the public wants to see what your personality is. It’s great to see that.”

“I like it and I think there should be less PR people around the drivers and more straight feet. When the lights go out, the bullshit stops. That’s it. C “This is what we need in motorsport.”

Fittipaldi is satisfied that a Brazilian driver is returning to Formula 1, since Gabriel Bortoleto will be present in 2025 at Sauber, then at Audi the following year.

“In recent years there was only one Latin American driver, Checo Pérez, and we were very disappointed in Latin America. But I tell all European drivers to be attentive, because young Brazilians are coming and take good places. We need to find our place again.”

As the Brazilian moves to Audi, Fittipaldi is confident about the level of the German team: “They know how to race. With the history of the Germans – Auto Union before the war, and now Audi – Audi’s return to Formula 1 is going to be incredible. They are going to be very strong.”
