Annecy continues its series of invincibility at home but this time without winning. While it remained on a record of six victories in a row on its lawn, for the last of the year at the Sports Park, the FCA had to settle for a goalless draw against Metz. A result not so bad against a serious contender for the climb.
Annecy grows
The Annecy residents started this meeting foot fully on the accelerator. Dominant and not at all intimidated by the former Ligue 1 player, they quickly put pressure on the opposing defense and it took a great Oukidja in the Metz goals to prevent FCA from opening the score. Stifled by the local pressing, Metz was almost harmless and could not create danger on Florian Escales’ goal. On its lawn, Annecy pushed but without finding the fault, 0-0 at the break, and enough to nourish some regrets.
Metz puts pressure
As soon as they returned from the locker room, the locals set off again at the same pace. Demoncy’s uncrossed shot (51′) was too soft to surprise Oukidja. Full throttle since the start of the match, Laurent Guyot’s players suffered the blow and Metz took advantage of this helm to appear more and more dangerous (64′, 65′, 75′ and 84′). The last ten minutes were an ordeal for the exhausted but united Annecy residents. This top-of-the-table duel ultimately ended without a winner. FC Annecy will spend Christmas warm in 5th place (27 points) in Ligue 2. This remains a great gift.
