FC Sion ended the year on a very good note. The Sédunois won 1-0 at Yverdon to pick up a valuable success in the fight for sixth place.

It was acquired on a success from Théo Bouchlarhem in the 24th minute after a gross error when the opposing defense restarted. This success fully reflected the influence of the Valaisans during the first period. What followed was not of the same ilk.

Transformed by Anthony Sauthier’s introduction at the break for the unfortunate Mohamed Tijani, the last Yverdon resident to have touched the ball in the opening action, the Vaudois took control. A shot from Boris Cespedes on the crossbar, a hesitation from Timothy Fayulu and a final shot from Sauthier repelled by Fayulu could have allowed Yverdon to snatch the point from the draw. In the end, Sauthier’s non-tenure appears to be a very unfortunate choice on the part of Alessandro Mangiarratti.

Even if its second period was far too laborious not to upset Didier Tholot, the Valais team regained the strength of character that it had lost during its dark series of nine matches without a victory. Raising your head after crossing such a long tunnel is not given to all teams. The Sédunois have won ten points out of twelve in their last four meetings.

The other match played at 6:00 p.m. followed a completely crazy scenario. Lucerne won 4-3 in Winterthur after being down 3-2 at the break. The Lucernois won thanks to two successes scored in… added time by Severin Ottiger and Adrian Grbic. This miraculous victory gives them fourth place in the standings before Sunday’s matches.
