Two years ago to the day, on December 14, 2024, the Atlas Lions reached the summit. They played the SEMI-FINAL of a WORLD CUP.
That day, they tickled the FINAL!
Against France, they were victims of mental saturation coupled with a sporting blockage. In the players’ subconscious, they had already accomplished what was necessary; the rest is just a bonus. Unconsciously, they increased their intensity and efficiency.
There was also the refereeing which completely distorted the game by depriving Boufal of a flagrant penalty and by overprotecting the French at the expense of the Moroccans. A penalty that could have changed the appearance and mentality of the players.
Regrets at the final whistle but an enormous pleasure, an enormous pride and an enormous satisfaction to have done the job and made millions of people HAPPY and PROUD not only Moroccans but also citizens of the World who saw in the Lions of the ‘Atlas their representatives and with which they identified, without geographical, linguistic or confessional borders!!
That day, the Lions wrote one of the most beautiful pages in the history of Morocco.
