When the Nashville Predators played against the Canadiens recently, a situation arose.

Basically, after the match, Jonathan Marchessault told Montreal reporters that he didn’t understand why his coach had to change his lines so often.

And this, without warning his players.

The Quebecer said that during the warm-up and to start the match at the Bell Center, he was not with the same people. And in his head, it didn’t exactly make sense.

His complaint to journalists made its way to the ears of Barry Trotz, the GM of Nashville.

Basically, the CEO of the club took the Quebecer aside to explain to him that the reason why he started with Zachary L’Heureux is that both are Quebecers. Having them start the game at the Bell Center was a mark of respect.

Elliotte Friedman, via his 32 Thoughts, mentioned the story.

But clearly, all this shows that Andrew Brunette has difficulty communicating well with his people. After all, he sent the wrong starting lineup a few weeks ago and then he didn’t tell the Quebecers why they were starting the match.

He didn’t tell Marchessault, at least.

Brunette, who thinks he could bencher all his players, is in the process of escaping him. And the fact that Barry Trotz is forced to intervene for a story like this shows that things are not going well behind the bench.

I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat myself, but the best coach in the Predators organization, he’s in the GM chair. Quite simply.

– Well done.

– Well let’s see.
