Will Corinne Suter be at the start of the Beaver Creek descent on Saturday? The question is still up in the air after the third and final practice of the Beaver Creek descent. But the Olympic champion, who is returning to competition after her serious injury to her left knee in Cortina d’Ampezzo almost a year ago, was somewhat reassured during this last timed test. The Schytzoise signed the 11th time in the times of skiers like Federica Brignone or Ilka Stuhec who had performed well during the first training sessions. From now on, Corinne Suter will take stock with her trainer Roland Platzer before making a decision.
The training, which was cut from the summit third due to the gusts of wind which rose on the heights of Colorado, was dominated by Sofia Goggia. The Italian is also returning to the circuit after her fracture of the tibia-fibula of her right leg last February. The Transalpine put a second within sight of her closest rivals, the Americans Lauren Macuga and Breezy Johnson, in less than a minute of racing.
Be careful though, this last test gallop did not take the steepest and most technical part of the Birds of Prey. Reason, perhaps, why Lara Gut-Behrami is 1”29 behind the Italian, in a good 4th place however. Delia Durrer also ranks in the top 15 in 13th place. Priska Ming-Nufer (20th), Michelle Gisin (21st), Jasmina Suter (22nd) and Joana Hählen (30th) will have to raise their level on Saturday during the first official descent of the winter.
