Head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks on an interim basis since the dismissal of Luke Richardson, Anders Sorensen made history Monday evening.

Sorensen became the first Swedish coach to win behind a National Hockey League (NHL) bench in the Hawks’ 2-1 win over the Rangers at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Remember that Sorensen is only the third European to lead an NHL team after Ivan Hlinka and Alpo Suhonen.

Tyler Bertuzzi and Taylor Hall each scored their sixth goal of the season to help their coach clinch this historic victory.

Goalie Arvid Soderblom also had his say by blocking 29 pucks, only giving in to Will Cuylle, who casually scored his 10th goal of the campaign already.

Igor Shesterkin, who signed the most expensive contract in history for an NHL goalie on Friday, for his part stopped 30 shots.

Nothing is going well with the Rangers these days. The Big Apple team has lost eight of its last 10 games and even recently traded its captain Jacob Trouba.
