Furthermore, the Genets d’Anglet breathe a little by winning 2-1 on the field of Pôle Palois FF. We met with the leaders of the Basque club to discuss the functioning of their women’s section and the club’s ambitions.
A well-established structure for the development of women’s Football
The Genêts d’Anglet club places particular emphasis on the development of women’s football, fully integrating it into its project. The club’s structure is organized around several poles, allowing effective management of its sporting and administrative activities. According to Nolwenn Collin, co-president of the club: “The Club is managed by a Steering Committee represented by two Co-Presidents and a General Director. We have a sports director, technical managers, as well as educators and managers to ensure good organization, for both the men’s and women’s teams. »
The club offers women’s teams at all levels, from football schools to seniors, with a diversity model that allows girls to play in both 100% women’s teams and mixed teams. This allows young girls to progress in a favorable environment while promoting integration.
The place of women’s football in the club
Women’s football occupies a very important place within the Genêts d’Anglet, with around a hundred members, including managers, educators and players. “The main objective is to integrate the girls into the club and not to be a ‘club within a club’. We have a 100% female practice, but also girls who play with the boys. It’s an open door to diversity,” explains Nolwenn Collin.
The women’s team benefits from two training complexes equipped with synthetic pitches and natural turf, which provides optimal playing conditions for the different categories.

A solid and ambitious training dynamic
The coach of the women’s R1 team, Christophe Gérard, underlines the importance of training in the structuring of the club. “From a young age, girls can come and play football with the Genêts d’Anglet. They can play mixed at the football school and then join the women’s division up to the seniors. » The club thus has a transversal approach which allows coherent progression of young players, from football school to senior teams.
“The main objective for the center is to train our young people so that they can join our senior team in the years to come,” explains Christophe Gérard. The team also aims to maintain its place at the highest regional level.
High ambitions for the future
The club’s ambitions for the future of women’s football are clear and ambitious. “The future of women’s football can only be an issue at several levels and several interlocutors,” declares Nolwenn Collin. The club already has more than 10 years of experience in this area, and it continues to progress thanks to investments in infrastructure and constant work on diversity.
Christophe Gérard adds: “We make sure to meet needs with human, technical and financial resources. New infrastructure is being finalized on the Girouette site. »
The women’s R1 team, which is largely made up of young players, aims to continue to perform in regional competitions, while working to integrate its young talents into the senior team.
A vision of strong and respected women’s football
Enéa Gasc Etcheto, captain of the R1 women’s team, sums up the group’s state of mind well: “The team must above all be united and have common values such as respect, surpassing oneself and good manners. collectively. These values are essential to going far together. »
The Genêts d’Anglet club, with a rapidly expanding women’s section and ambitious objectives, continues to demonstrate that it is a major player in the development of women’s football in New Aquitaine.
